Took a gamble on this for a DIY air monitor and it’s picking up changes in the room way faster than I expected, the diagonal sensor layout really helps catch smoke from across the desk. The output voltage is stable and easy to read with an Arduino, so calibration was a breeze.

The diagonal layout of the IRED and phototransistor makes it super easy to mount in my air quality rig, and the analog output is clean enough to read directly with an Arduino. Calibrated it against a known reference and the readings tracked within a few percent.

Took me a bit to get the voltage reading dialed in with my Arduino, but once I did the output was clean and responsive to cigarette smoke. The diagonal IR/phototransistor arrangement picks up fine particles well.
